Death and Drinks

Step back in time and celebrate Halloween with a Victorian twist!  Beginning at 3:00, historian and storyteller Carl Trainor will present a fascinating talk exploring Victorian and other cultural death rituals and their influence on modern mourning traditions.  Afterwards, visitors are invited inside to view a Victorian wake exhibit curated by Carl, featuring authentic antique funeral equipment.  The evening concludes with a candlelight tour of the Hall, where guests will encounter “departed” literary legends such as Mary Shelly and Edgar Allen Poe,  who will rise from the grave to read their haunting works.  Admission $5.00 for members, and $10.00 for nonmembers.  Drinks are available by donation, costumes are welcome but not required, for ages 14 +.  To reserve a spot, call 315-397-2323.
